Our Story
The revival of the historical brand Freiria: Innovation and tradition in the paper industry
In 1927, the commander Mario Freiria founded Freiria in Buriasco. He probably never imagined that, after a century, his machines would still be in use. However, as the visionary and far-sighted entrepreneur that he was, he would certainly have hoped that the machines he created would continue to be productive, not only in Italy, but also in Europe and around the world.
Freiria, a historic paper industry brand with more than 90 years of experience, is now resuming operations after a difficult period. Sadly, administrator Fernando Freiria has passed away. Although he was over 80 years old, he always passionately carried on the company and the brand, which has been a leading player in the paper industry for decades. The company supplied complete machines and components to customers in different parts of the world, both in the paper industry and in the TNT sector. In recent years, however, shop-floor production has been discontinued, maintaining only the supply of spare parts for incumbent customers.
In 2018, due to adverse events, the company was turned over to an extraordinary administrator, who managed the sale of materials and valuable know-how accumulated over 60 years, including the technical archive of drawings.
The revitalization
Following an auction, Cultrex acquired the Freiria brand and all the necessary tools to continue reviving this important name, while also supporting mills that still use Freiria machines. Cultrex’s administrator is said to be preparing a campaign to revive the brand, contacting historical customers and offering support again with updated parts and technology. The company’s historical archive, which contains more than 20,000 drawings that have already been digitized, makes it possible to trace the original drawing package from a simple serial number or year of manufacture, making it possible to reproduce any spare part.
In addition, Cultrex is able to provide maintenance and repair services for both old and new machinery, thanks to the application of state-of-the-art technology and experience. The goal is to bring Freiria-branded machinery back to both domestic and international markets.
Cultrex, a new company composed of experts with years of experience in the paper industry, aims to relaunch the Freiria brand and explore new applications through innovative technologies adaptable to the paper industry. These technologies represent high-tech solutions with application studies and turnkey installations.
